Wal-Mart is in a school and residential area, plus it's near city bus stops. The city moved the stoplights when they worked on the road nearby, but didn't think about the pedestrians who used the crosswalk that was by Wal-Mart.
I feel the city needs to repaint the crosswalk lines and install walk lights to make it safe for Switzer, Lemon Creek and Gruening Park residents. It would help the elders, handicapped and parents with their children who have to stand and wait for the cars to slow down from one direction or the other (and those who step out and hope that the cars will stop). There are still some considerate drivers that will stop, and I thank them.
The reason I'm writing this letter is because a woman in a wheelchair was wanting to cross the street to Wal-Mart but cars didn't stop until a mother and her daughter stepped out and helped the disabled woman cross the road.
Hopefully the crosswalk can be put back before someone gets injured or killed.
