ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police have released the name of the officer who fired at a teenager aiming a BB gun with a scope.

Officer Shaun Henry was placed on three days administrative leave as required by department policy following the shooting Monday at a Taco Bell restaurant.

A spokeswoman said Henry was a lateral hire from the San Diego Police Department, where he was a field training officer and member of the special weapons and tactics team.

He has been in Anchorage for three years and has 15 years of law enforcement experience.

Police said Henry saw a man pointing what appeared to be a rifle toward people in the restaurant parking lot. He fired and struck the 17-year-old boy in the arm. The youth was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
