It would be a crime if the funding amendment failed and allow roads to be built in the Tongass National Forest for further exploitation of our timber. The few people that will come into Southeast Alaska and rape us of our trees. They are like termites, yes I will call them "termite people."
I would commend Rep. Robert Andrews, D-N.J., and Steve Chabot, R-Ohio, that prohibits the expenditure of any federal dollars for any new road construction in Southeast's 16.9 million acre Tongass National Forest.
America sees Alaska as the Last Frontier. America needs to protect Alaska for future generations of Americans their right to the wilderness experience - unlike in the Lower 48 states where logging roads crisscross their lands and it is ugly.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska says timber is a renewable resource. Yes, if you can wait 300 to 500 years to cut the second growth of spruce, red cedar, yellow cedar and hemlock trees. If it is anybody driving nails into coffins, it is your Sen. Lisa Murkowski. For allowing the destruction and exploitation of all our natural resources in Alaska and ruining it for all future generations of Americans that want to see Alaska in its natural state.
