Juneau man charged with assault

Police: Argument about gun sparked the threat

Posted: Sunday, June 22, 2008

An argument over a "stolen gun" on Lemon Creek Road ended Thursday night with Pendleton Cutnose Jr., 48, pointing a gun and threatening to shoot his 28-year-old roommate, according to police.

Cutnose, who has two drunken driving convictions on his record, fled the scene and was later arrested on a charge of assault and associated weapons charges.

Juneau police Sgt. David Campbell said the victim pointed to a passing car as police interviewed him and said, "That's them right there."

The officer jumped into a squad car and hit the lights before pulling them over, Campbell said.

Two pistols and one rifle were confiscated at the scene, Campbell said.

Police also arrested driver James Hardiek, 35, on a charge of driving under the influence and impounded the car. No weapons were found in the car, police said.

Both Cutnose and Hardiek were taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Cutnose is held without bail pending arraignment. Hardiek is held on $1,000 bail.
