Juneau resident Dorothea "Dottie" Louise Lindoff died June 17, 2010 at Bartlett Regional Hospital. She was 57.
She was born in Hoonah on March 25, 1953. She is part of the Kaagwantaan clan of the Gooch Hit.
Dottie graduated from Hoonah High School. She was a member of ANB Camp #2 and an ANF member of Hoonah Camp #12. She enjoyed bartending and socializing with family and friends, and cooking for family gatherings. She also liked playing bingo, dice and marbles with friends. Her recent new activity was getting on Facebook and playing Texas Hold 'Em. She enjoyed swimming and jumping off the docks in Hoonah. Dottie always called in the family birthdays and anniversaries to the radio, and she always enjoyed spending time with her best buddy Christine Sweet and adopted daughter Patty Lockhart.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Elizabeth Lindoff; sisters, Maryann (Mills) Lindoff and Martha Lindoff; brother, Robert Spencer Lindoff; aunts, Ester Kayes, Louise Light and Phoebe Warren, and her good friend Rose Howard.
She is survived by her son, John Hawkins Jr. of Juneau; daughters, Elizabeth Lindoff and Shannon Hawkins of Juneau; brothers, James Lindoff, George Lindoff, Michael Lindoff, Franklin Lindoff, Jerry Lindoff and David Lindoff, all of Hoonah; sisters, Leona Santiago of Juneau, Kathy Lindoff of Anchorage, and Joe Lindoff of Hoonah; grandchildren, Michael Jerue, Cassandra Jerue, Dominic Watt, Terrance Hawkins, Kayden Hawkins and John R. Hawkins; great grandchildren Cyril Michael George Jerue and Aaliyah Cropley; culturally adopted brother, Tanguy Liddrecht; aunt, Josephine Winders; uncles, John Lindoff, Richard Warren, Joe Winders and Harold McKinley, and numerous other relatives who are not listed but are not forgotten.
A memorial service will be held in Juneau on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall. Services will be held in Hoonah on Wednesday and Thursday.
