They were married on Sept. 9, 1946, in the presence of a small group of family and friends at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Bob and Ril have spent their entire married life in Juneau, moving frequently in their early years, but have lived the past 45 in their home on Glacier Avenue. In the 1960s, '70s and into the '80s, Bob operated Shop-Rite Market in Douglas, before retiring in 1985.
They have 12 children: Mary (John) Lampert of Seattle; John (Maria) of Ft. Worth, Texas; Tom (Jan, deceased) of Anchorage; Guy (Linda) of Juneau; Bobby (Christine) of York, Maine; Therese (Todd) of Juneau; Rick (Gail) of Juneau; Marilyn (Shane) Sliva of Puyallup, Wash.; Celeste (Bill) Becia of Boise, Idaho; Geri (Jerry) Foster of Amsterdam, Netherlands; Ray (Anne) of Juneau; and Roger (Brother Simon) of Amity, Ore.
