Anchorage police said two motorcycles at about 3:14 a.m. Sunday were traveling east on Northern Lights near Bragaw.

One bike struck the back of a pickup also driving east.

The motorcycle driver was thrown onto the pavement.

The motorcycle flipped over the truck tailgate and landed in the pickup bed.

A woman passenger on the motorcycle, who has not been positively identified, was thrown into the back window and roof of the truck. She was rushed to a hospital for surgery.

Police said the second biker rendered aid and was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
