ANCHORAGE - The state's congressional delegation says the Alaska Railroad is getting a $25.8 million grant of federal stimulus money.
The money to the state-owned railroad is coming from the Federal Transit Administration.
The funds are intended for various projects, including construction of restrooms in Seward and Talkeetna, a collision avoidance system, power upgrades at the Seward Depot and automated passenger equipment safety devices.
The money also will go toward construction of a second set of tracks at the Fairbanks Intermodal Facility, realignment of track at Nenana, general track rehabilitation and safety fencing at the Ship Creek Intermodal Facility in Anchorage.
