ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police have arrested three men accused of stealing pickups, smashing into stereo stores and stealing sound equipment.

Nineteen-year-olds Joshua Guernsey and Terrel Durant and 18-year-old Samuel Irwin were arrested at 2 a.m. Monday and charged with auto theft and burglary.

Police took a report of a break-in at the Safe and Sound store on the Old Seward Highway. A caller said windows had been smashed and two pickups were at the scene.

Police say the three suspects left in the pickups but one ran out of gas. The three were arrested in the other truck.

Both pickups had been stolen from a nearby park-and-sell car lot.

The men are suspected of crashing one pickup into another stereo store minutes before the Safe and Sound burglary.
