Fairbanks resident Christina Marie Russell died June 16, 2010, in Fairbanks. She was 47.
She was born Sept. 17, 1962, in Sitka to David S. and Marlene (Kennedy) Russell. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Sitka High School. Over the years, she lived in Seattle and later in Anchorage. She made Fairbanks her home for the past 15 years. She loved Sitka and always considered it home.
She always had a smile and positive attitude. She loved being on the water and fishing with her many friends. Photography and cooking were also passions of hers; she especially enjoyed cooking for friends and elders. Christmas was her favorite time of year, with its gathering of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, David, and brother, Michael.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Marlene and Del Cesar; sisters, Beverly Russell and her husband, Les Jensen, of Juneau, and Janice Craver and her husband, Andrew, of Connecticut; nephew, David Russell Jensen, of Juneau; nieces, Tamara, Rebecca and Melissa Craver, of Connecticut; aunts, Janet Duncan, of Ketchikan, and Christina Kennedy, of Juneau; uncle, Homer Russell and family, of Kotzebue, stepbrothers, Lance and David Cesar, and stepsister, Nancy Maki, of Juneau.
A memorial service will be held in Sitka at 2 p.m., Tuesday June 29, 2010, at the Naa Kahida Community House. A reception will follow the service.
