Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• A 56-year-old man was arrested at 3:56 p.m. Sunday on South Franklin Street for domestic violence assault. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. Police believe alcohol was involved.

• A 18-year-old man was arrested at 8:19 p.m. Sunday on Mendenhall Loop Road for domestic violence assault and criminal mischief. He was taken to state prison.


• A blue stunt bike was reported stolen at 3:08 p.m. Sunday from Mendenhall Mall Road. The locked bike was taken sometime overnight and is valued at $130.

• A woman reported at 3:17 p.m. Sunday that her blue canvas Bear Creek purse was stolen from her car somewhere in the Juneau area on Saturday.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• A man reported that the rear window of his white 1993 Dodge was smashed out at 5:22 p.m. Sunday on 2nd Street in Douglas. Police have no leads or suspects.

Vehicle accidents:

• A 40-year-old man reported he was involved in a minor vehicle accident with a 19-year-old woman at 11:24 a.m. Sunday on Glacier Highway near Jordan Creek. No injuries were reported.


• Firefighters responded to a call at 10:01 a.m. Sunday reporting smoke at the AAA Moving and Storage structure at 5350 Sean Drive. The smoke was traced to an overheated motor from a parts washer; firefighters ventilated the smoke.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Sunday at 2:09 and 2:22 p.m. on East Street, at 4:34 p.m. on Glacier Highway and Alaway Avenue and 11:04 p.m. near Douglas Highway.
