JUNEAU - Lutong Pinoy, a new Filipino restaurant, opened Monday at 116 N. Franklin St., a space occupied most recently by the Mexican restaurant Fernando's.

Co-owner Leonore Beltran said five Juneau families got together to start the restaurant and catering business.

On the steam tables Monday: skinny fried egg rolls, chicken adobo, fried rice, pork cooked in pig blood, squid stew and other Filipino delicacies.

The restaurant will be open year-round.
