WASILLA - A Wasilla woman died over the weekend in an accident on the Glenn Highway when a pickup truck in front of her slowed or came to a stop after a bed slipped from the back, police said.
Doreen Deason, 67, was pronounced dead at Alaska Regional Hospital on Saturday night.
Deason was driving toward Anchorage on the Glenn Highway at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday when her vehicle rammed into the back of the truck.
Two passengers in Deason's vehicle and the driver and a passenger in the pickup also were injured. They were taken to Alaska Regional Hospital.
The occupants of the pickup truck told police they had pulled completely off the road before slowing to pick up the bed.
But the people inside Deason's vehicle said the pickup stopped in the middle of the road.
