July 3

Capital City Fire and Rescue Softball game:

7 p.m. at Savikko Park

Watermelon-eating Contest for Children

After the firemen's ball game at Sandy Beach

Fireworks Display

11:59 p.m. at Gastineau Channel

July 4

The Juneau Fourth of July Parade

11 a.m. from the Department of Labor parking lot Grand Marshals: Douglas Wahto, World War II veteran, and Jeremy Lemke, Kosovo-Iraq veteran

The Douglas Fourth of July Parade

2 p.m. at Gastineau School Grand Marshals: Mayor Bruce Botelho and his wife, Lupita

Field Sports (short-distance running, three-legged races)

2:30 p.m. at Savikko Park

Dog Agility Trials

2:30 p.m. at Sandy Beach

Two-mile Race

3 p.m., start from the Douglas side of the bridge and finish at Douglas Fire Hall

Soapbox Derby for Children

3 p.m. at St. Ann's Avenue

Dog Frisbee Contest

Make and Break (old-time firemen's hose race)

Deep Pit Beef BBQ Dinner

Annual Sandcastle Challenge
