Tech available to gardeners

Seasonally the Cooperative Extension Service hires an integrated pest management technician as a resource for local gardeners. The IPM tech is available throughout the summer (June through August) to answer gardening questions, specifically involving ecologically sound control methods for insects and weeds.

This summer's IPS tech is Sarah Moore, born and raised in Juneau, she is home for the summer following her sophomore year at Saint Mary's College of Maryland. She can be contacted at 465-8722 Monday through Friday and is available for free home-visits throughout the week.

Bible school to run July 5-9

The annual Vacation Bible School will run July 5-9, 6:25-9 p.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10490 Glacier Highway (across from Engineer's Cutoff). For everyone ages 4 to adult, the Bible school provides nursery, supper served 5:30-6:15 p.m., crafts, music, recreation and fun, free of charge. The theme this year is "Far-Out Far East Rickshaw Rally," with an emphasis on Japan. Pastor Earl Midkiff will be managing. Call 789-3012 or 789-3505 for more information and to register.
