Lawmakers, pipeline parties discuss needs
FAIRBANKS - Pipeline builders and petroleum producers told Alaska lawmakers that favorable state fiscal terms will make or break plans to build a large-diameter natural gas pipeline from the North Slope to an Alberta hub.
State representatives and senators held hearings Tuesday in Anchorage.
Fiscal terms could include the rate at which the state would tax production and how long the state is willing to lock in the rate.
Alaska Revenue Commissioner Pat Galvin says the state believes its fiscal terms are just fine for producers but officials would be willing to listen to requests for changes.
