Juneau Alpine Club -- Grandchild Peaks Climb: This is a high-energy output event lasting a long day or overnight, about 18 miles. Equipment needed includes ice ax and crampons. Info: Kim Turley, 789-7058.

Juneau Rifle and Pistol Club -- Alaska State 300-yard Prone Championship: Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Hank Harmon Rifle Range, Mile 2, Montana Creek Road, for 9:15 a.m. safety meeting and 9:30 a.m. event start. Three separate events will take place for various rifles and sights, with an overall and event champions crowned. Entry fee is $20 for all three events, or $15 for one event. Southeast Road Runners club -- Douglas Two-Mile Fun Run: Meet at 1:30 p.m. at Douglas Bridge "Y" for 2:30 p.m. race start. Race finishes at Douglas Fire Station. No entry fee. Sunday, July 8

Southeast Road Runners club -- Mount Juneau Ridge Run: Meet at time TBA (probably about 6:30-7 a.m.) at Perseverance Trailhead parking lot for an adventure run of about 15 miles up Perseverance Trail, up Mount Juneau to its peak, along the ridgeline and back down via Granite Creek and Perseverance Trail. Due to the race distance and trail hazards, participants must be adequately conditioned to participate and should be able to complete a half-marathon (13.1 miles) in under two hours.
