JUNEAU - United Way of Southeast Alaska has introduced a new web-based volunteer forum called Volunteer Juneau. In partnership with SAGA, United Way has developed a new Facebook page and online calendar that provide fans with detailed and up-to-date information regarding volunteer opportunities in and around Juneau.

"As a group, Alaskans rank near the top when it comes to volunteerism nationwide," says Tyler Browne, community research and volunteer development coordinator at United Way of Southeast Alaska. "We hope to give Alaskans as much support as possible as they work to build and improve their communities. Volunteer Juneau is an excellent and easy-to-use resource that we are excited to introduce as a supplement to the volunteer page that currently exists on United Way's Website. We encourage both volunteers and nonprofit agency representatives to utilize this new web-based volunteer forum as they work to improve quality of life in and around Juneau."

In addition to the Facebook page, Volunteer Juneau also offers an online volunteer calendar that can be viewed by anyone and can be accessed via the Volunteer Juneau Facebook page. Each volunteer opportunity is visible on the monthly calendar and detailed information can be viewed by clicking on a particular event. Whether you are interested in posting or viewing specific volunteer events, the online calendar is also a great resource for both agency representatives and volunteers.

If you have any questions, comments, or volunteer opportunities you would like to share, please contact Tyler Browne at 463-5530. Agency representatives may be granted license to post items on the calendar and anyone can post a comment or opportunity to the Facebook page.
