ANGOON - Native and non-Native elders, age 60 and older, are invited to enjoy hot, delicious lunches at noon, Monday through Friday, at the Angoon Shu' Senior Center, located at 800 Kootz Road. Thanks to the financial support of Kootznoowoo, Inc., the State of Alaska and community donors, the meals are available five days a week.
Elders coming for the first time may want to call Pauline, the senior center manager, at 788-3804, so she can be ready to welcome them and introduce them to the program. Each meal is made up of the main dish, a salad, a hot vegetable, bread, rice or noodles, milk and a dessert. Meal participants are encouraged to make a donation toward the cost of the meal. The suggested donation amount is $3 per meal, although any donation amount is appreciated and very much needed.
The Angoon Senior Center is a friendly place where people 60 and over can come to participate in a variety of activities, classes, meetings and eat a hot, nutritious lunch while socializing with others. Ideas for new activities or events are always welcome.
People who have never been to the Angoon Senior Center are encouraged to stop by and visit. Everyone over the age of 60 is welcome. For further information, a monthly menu or schedule of activities, contact Pauline Jim at 788-3804.
