Coast Guard Air Station Sitka to hold change of command

JUNEAU - Coast Guard Air Station Sitka will hold a formal change of command ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the hangar where Cmdr. Doug Cameron will relieve Capt. David A. Walker as the Air Station Sitka commanding officer.

Walker will report to Coast Guard District 11's resource management division in Alameda, Calif.

Cameron's most recent assignment was as executive officer at Coast Guard Air Station Astoria from 2008 to 2010. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1984 and was then commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Class, serving in the Marine Corps until 1988 and leaving active duty as a First Lieutenant. He returned to civilian life and accepted a position as an engineer in the Office of Merchant Marine Safety at Coast Guard Headquarters, where he specialized in fire and life safety design features of large passenger vessels.

Throughout his career, Cameron has earned more than 5,000 military flight hours and his decorations include two Air Medals, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, the Commandant's Letter of Commendation and others.
