WASILLA - A 47-year-old man convicted of first-degree murder in his girlfriend's beating death has drawn a 102-year sentence.
Frank Adams was sentenced Friday in Palmer for the 2007 death of Stacey Johnston.
Discounting mandatory time off for good behavior, the sentence translates to 68 years of prison time.
Adams, who was convicted in March, was found with Johnston's body in the back of his car after he was chased as a suspected drunk driver by police.
Prosecutors said Adams brutally beat Johnston to death.
The defense said Johnston may have died from an allergy medication mixed with alcohol and that Adams saw her die, panicked and was trying to drive her to an Anchorage hospital when he was pulled over.
