BIG LAKE - A 19-year-old Big Lake man was charged with assault, evidence tampering and failure to report a traffic accident after a crash.

Alaska State Troopers say a car driven by Cory Hannon on Thursday morning left the road at Mile 6.8 Big Lake Road, hit a tree and rolled. A passenger was in the car.

Troopers say Hannon phoned a family member, who helped move the crashed car.

Troopers say Hannon removed the license plates and vehicle identification number, left the car on the side of the road and fled.

Troopers found Hannon and discovered he had a suspended drivers license and a warrant for his arrest.

He was treated for injuries from the crash and arrested. The car was demolished.

Troopers say the passenger also was injured.
