JUNEAU - Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell isn't attending the Western Governors Association meeting this week in Montana.
Parnell spokeswoman Sharon Leighow says Parnell couldn't fit it into his schedule.
On Monday, that schedule included several bill signings, including measures allowing for counseling to be offered to jurors traumatized by evidence they saw or heard during a trial and establishment of a state forest.
Parnell also named Katie TePas as his domestic violence and sexual assault response coordinator. Lawmakers created the post as part of efforts this past session to crack down on the violence.
Parnell's office says TePas has been managing statewide domestic violence and sexual assault programs for the Alaska State Troopers.
