I discovered this morning from an aviation acquaintance that my good friend Richard Ross and his wife were the occupants of his Cessna 172 that crashed (in the White Pass; Empire, June 26).
I just wanted to express my heartfelt sadness upon his passing as Richard and I had a close aviation association going back to 1997. He was helpful to me and was instrumental in getting several sponsorships for my aviation Web site. Additionally Richard and I were frequent lunch buddies and had been involved in an attempt at creating an aviation business venture.
I had intended to call him a week or so ago to have lunch with him again, but I failed to do that, which I now regret. A while ago I called his home just to hear his voice once again on his voicemail system. I will sorely miss his friendship but will keep alive the memories of the good times.
Thanks for allowing me to vent and expound upon my feelings. It helps in the grieving process to talk about it with someone.
