Juneau's Adrienne Bosworth, 13, recently sang and danced in a Broadway production in New York City.
Bosworth was one of 54 kids chosen from across the United States to perform in the "Bravo: On With the Show" program, sponsored by the Bravo TV network.
Bravo scoured the country to find talented kids, selected via letters of recommendation and a personal essay.
The kids were given all-expense-paid trips for themselves and a parent to New York, where they worked with artistic director Tony Parise, choreographers Sue Delano, Justin Greer, and Alee Reed. For three days, they rehearsed for a 60-minute production specially scripted for "Bravo On With The Show." It incorporated elements from such celebrated musicals as "Oklahoma," "West Side Story" and "42nd Street."
The final performance was on the evening of April 26 in front of a live audience at Broadway's Imperial Theatre.
In addition to the chance to perform on Broadway, and the all-expense paid trip, Bravo also gave $1,000 to each child's local arts organization of choice.
Bosworth chose Perseverance Theatre, where she has been active in its youth programs STAR (Summer Theatre Arts Rendezvous program) and the Young Shakespeare Training Company.
In total, Bravo donated $50,000 to local schools and arts programs in 23 states nationwide.
