JUNEAU - Katherine Eldemar has been appointed by Goldbelt, Inc. to fulfill the remaining two years of former board member Derek Duncan's term.
Duncan resigned in May to become vice president of operations with the urban Native corporation.
"We had several excellent candidates for this board seat and we appreciate everyone who took the time to apply," Board Chair Joseph Kahklen said. "However, with Katherine's past service and her demonstrated commitment to our shareholders and community, the board felt that she was the right choice to complete this board term."
Eldemar previously sat on the Goldbelt board for three consecutive terms from 1988 to 1997, when she served as vice-chair and corporate secretary.
She is currently on United Way of Southeast Alaska board and most recently was appointed co-chair of the Census 2010 Complete Count Committee for the City and Borough of Juneau.
Eldemar will join Delfin "Del" Cesar, Kathy Polk and Trudy Skan, who were recently elected to three-year terms and current board members Joseph Kahklen, Andrea Cadiente-Laiti, Ben Cornell, Karen Taug and Randy Wanamaker.
