ANCHORAGE - Nearly 70 Alaskans have been arrested in a statewide effort to capture fugitives.
The six-day operation last week netted 69 fugitives, who had a total of 83 arrest warrants, said Rochelle Liedike, deputy U.S. Marshal in Alaska.
Operation FALCON, or Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally, ended Saturday. The arrest warrants were for crimes including distributing child pornography, assault and robbery.
A total of 25 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies took part in the roundup, which captures fugitives from Anchorage to Fairbanks and Juneau to Tyonek.
