JUNEAU - The Coast Guard is continued its search Tuesday for Samuel Butler, 24, after his partially submerged canoe was found in Clarence Strait at 10:15 a.m. Monday.
Rescue crews arrived on scene at 11:20 a.m. Monday and searched until 11:32 p.m. The search resumed Tuesday morning and continued all day.
The Coast Guard Cutter Liberty, an MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter, Wrangell Search and Rescue and several Good Samaritans from Coffman Cove have searched more than 285 total square miles.
A Good Samaritan on the vessel "Ruby Tuesday" located the canoe in the water with debris floating around it Monday morning. According to witnesses, Butler left Coffman Cove that morning around 3:30 a.m.
