Library contest

Kids borrowing items from the Juneau Public Libraries this summer can enter a contest and be rewarded by local businesses. Each Tuesday a drawing is held for kids who have participated, and the winner is announced on KTOO's radio show "We Like Kids." Thank you to all the local businesses participating.

Recent winners were as follows: Derek Oliver, juggling set from The Imagination Station; David Derbesy, gift certificate from the Amazing Bookstore; Ben Campbell, shirt and hat from Timberwolf Gifts; Phillip White, gift certificate form Nugget Outfitter; Katelyn Carlile, gift certificate form the Amazing Bookstore; Megan Hart, gift certificate for a pizza from Dominos in the Valley; Rylee Landen, complimentary pass for two and hats from Juneau Trolley Car Co.; and Addie Prussing, complimentary pass on the tram for two from Goldbelt.

Climbing wall hours change at Zach Gordon

The Zach Gordon Youth Center has changed its climbing wall hours to 5-7 p.m. on Mondays and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Everything is free for anyone under 21 and their guardians. The climbing wall is also available for private rentals. For any other questions, call 586-2635 or e-mail Kristi_west@ci.juneau.ak.ua.

Dog group urges use of leashes near cars

For the safety and comfort of all Eagle Beach users, Grateful Dogs of Juneau encourages dog owners to exit their vehicles with dogs on leashes, transit the road and picnic areas, and only unleash once you are past the point your dog will not return to bother vehicles or picnickers.
