JUNEAU - Alaska state Rep. Mike Doogan's office hopes to know as early as Thursday night the outcome of the lawmaker's surgery to remove a brain tumor.
The Anchorage Democrat was scheduled to undergo surgery in Seattle Thursday following what his office has said was the discovery of a meningioma during a recent MRI. Cases typically involve noncancerous tumors, but specifics about Doogan's case weren't immediately known.
Aide Charles Boyle said he spoke with Doogan before the surgery and said the 62-year-old lawmaker had "that same old Mike Doogan sense of humor."
He said aides hoped to get an update on Doogan's condition as early as Thursday night or by Friday morning.
