JUNEAU - Juneau firefighters responded to a structure fire Wednesday evening on Douglas Island.
Capital City Fire Rescue dispatched crews about 5:05 p.m. to a single-family home at 2760 Douglas Highway, where several individuals reported seeing smoke and flames.
The fire was contained to the exterior deck, a small portion of the crawl space and some of the interior living space, according to the fire department. The family was not home at the time. No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $3,000.
The fire department said "smoking-related materials" were responsible for the blaze.
