ANCHORAGE - A private helicopter pilot rescued a man whose boat sank in Cook Inlet.
The Anchorage Daily News reports that Douglas J. Mruk used his cell phone to call for help Wednesday morning as he was in the water between Eagle River and Peters Creek.
As the Anchorage Fire Department and Alaska State Troopers prepared to respond, Mruk was picked up by 63-year-old helicopter pilot Roland Gohmert, of Petersburg. Gohmert took Mruk to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, where he was treated and released.
