Gov. Knowles says the Southeast transportation plan calls for fast ferries and short overland road lengths. Will he please tell us of one road length his administration is prepared to build?

After Knowles leaves office he will either go to the Lower 48 or the Interior. He will have access to anywhere in the United States and Canada. He will not have to pay any transportation fees.

I believe our governor was wise in not funding the Juneau Access Study. If you have ever sailed up Lynn Canal, it would be easy to see why a road is not considered. Why spoil such a beautiful place in the name of progress?

During the Fourth of July parade, let's all remember -- and remind our children -- to stand and remove their hats when the color guard comes by with the American flag, and also when the war veterans walk by.

I hope they have bathrooms open around the Department of Labor building for the fireworks.

Thanks to the newspaper for putting in the local cartoon. It made the newspaper feel more personal and local.

I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed being a visitor to Juneau and how nice everyone has been. I was very happy to see Juneau's skate park, but I think it's time that they get together and get that place cleaned up. I'm not sure I feel good leaving my kids using the park in that condition.

Flying float planes and helicopters in a lightning and thunder storm, even while returning passengers to their ship, is still contrary to all known safety practices.

I find it kind of strange that people see flight tours as an endeavor worthy to being a nurse or a policeman or a fireman or a social worker. Down with tourism and up with people who matter.

In regard to peace and quiet, when I am in my home with all the doors and windows closed and I'm in the shower with the water running, I cannot hear airplanes, helicopters, dogs barking, other people's children or the cars going by on Egan Drive. What I can hear is the music from the $200 Hondas with the $2,000 stereo systems.

I noticed a couple of people have needed helicopter rescues lately. Wow. Who paid for those?

What's up with all the dogs running loose at Tee Harbor? I know there's a leash law in this town. Please keep your dogs on your property.

I read an article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day.
