Fourth of July Schedule

The following are events scheduled as part of Juneau's Fourth of July festivities:

Today, July 3:

Canadian vessel Saskatoon tour, 1-4 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard station downtown.

KTOO-FM block party, 6 p.m. -1 a.m., Silverbow. Featuring live Latin dance music and bluegrass.

Treadwell Arena Ice Rink groundbreaking, 6:30 p.m., Savikko Park, Douglas.

7:30-11 p.m., Centennial Hall: Pre-fireworks contra dance. Live music with Juneau's Skyrocket Old Time Band and dance caller Kari Lundgren from Sitka. All dances taught; wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes. Info: 463-3214.

7 p.m., Savikko Park Field No. 4: Ball Game, Juneau Firefighters vs. Douglas Firefighters.

9:30 p.m., departing from Goldbelt Tour Center Dock: Red White & Blues Cruise, fund-raiser for Juneau Lighthouse Association, $45, adults only. Call 790-3339 or 364-3632.

Fireworks Viewing Party, 10 p.m., Parkshore Condominiums, 800 F St., Unit J-4. Organized by Juneau Singles. Details: 586-3265.

Midnight, over Gastineau Channel off downtown waterfront: Fireworks.

Wednesday, July 4:

All You Can Eat Pancake Feed, 7-11 a.m., National Guard Armory. Sponsored by the Juneau-Gastineau Rotary Club.

U.S. Navy supply ship Camden tour, 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m., Four Seasons dock near the state ferry terminal.

Free Gray Line shuttle, Juneau-to-Douglas shuttle service every 20 minutes. 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Alaska State Museum to Douglas, 2-6 p.m. Marine Park to Douglas, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Gastineau School to Juneau.

Juneau Fourth of July Parade. Parade starts 11 a.m. Floats assemble 6:30-8:30 a.m. On Eight Street by Douglas Bridge.

11 a.m.-4 p.m., Douglas Community Methodist Church Beef Barbecue Dinner. $10 adults, $7 children 12 and under. Sandwich and chips, $5.

Noon: Sandy Beach, annual sandcastle exposition. Registration begins at noon, awards time 4 p.m.

Baby Station, 12 p.m. -5 p.m., a tent at Savikko Park. A quiet place to nurse or feed your baby or change diapers during the Douglas Parade and Sandy Beach activities. Sponsored by SEARHC.

Juneau Montessori School Kids Carnival, during Douglas events in front of the school in downtown Douglas. Admission: $5. Call 364-3535.

Douglas Parade, 1:30 p.m. Grand Marshals Alan and Linda Wood. Assembly time 1 p.m. No preregistration or entry fee required.

1:30 p.m.: Hot Dog Sale, in front of Douglas Fire Hall. Sponsored by Douglas Volunteer Fire Dept.

2 p.m.: Field Sports, Savikko Park Field No. 2. Sponsored by Douglas Fourth of July Committee. All participants in field sports will receive 25 cents.

2 p.m.: Dog Agility Trials, Savikko Park Field No. 3. Sponsored by Capital Kennel Club. Info: 586-3270.

2:30 p.m.: Juneau-to-Douglas two-mile race. Registration at 1:30 p.m. Line up at 2:30 p.m. at the Y on the Douglas side of bridge. Finish at Douglas Fire Hall. Commemorative ribbons to all runners. No entry free. Sponsored by Southeast Roadrunners. Info: 586-6200.

3 p.m.: Dog Frisbee Contest, Savikko Park Field No. 3. $5 donation registration fee. Sponsored by Gastineau Humane Society. Info: 789-0260.

3 p.m.: Medieval Dance/Combat Demo, Savikko Park green strip. Sponsored by Society for Creative Anachronism. Call 789-7113.

3:30 p.m.: Make and Break, firemen competition, in front of Douglas Fire Hall.

2-4 p.m.: Music featuring Sheri Youngward & Band, Christian entertainment, Savikko Park Field No. 4. Sponsored by Calvary Fellowship. Shadow Box Puppets, 3-4:30 p.m. Info: 780-4618.

4:30-8 p.m.: Beach Dance with Funk Mighty 5 and Moxie. Sponsored by Rozwick Giles Music and Douglas 4th of July Committee.

Thursday, July 5:
