Roes and Homer win solos

Juneau bike riders won three of the nine categories in the 24 Hours of Light mountain bike festival race in Whitehorse on June 23-24.

The event was held at the Copperbelt Mining Railway and Museum, with the majority of the event's loop located on Mount Mac's cross-country ski trails. Thirty-two teams participated in the race, which started at noon on Saturday and ended noon on Sunday.

Winning Juneau teams and riders were: Geoff Roes in the solo male category, Jill Homer in the solo female category. Glacier Cycles Barbies Ride Again won the eight-person female race. That team included Julia Carver, Sheila Good (captain), Evelyn Richards, Janice Sheufelt, Bernie Sorensen, Gianna Thornton, Jennifer Wardell, Mona Yarnall.
