Alaska Elite lives up to its name

The Juneau Cheer Club's first competitive team, the Alaska Elite, competed June 6 in Valencia, Calif., bringing home several first place finishes among other awards, including 1st place Grand Master Champions.

Team awards included: 1st place, Sr. High Team; and 1st place in the Sr. High Division. Colby Nore and Nate Wilson also took 1st place in the Partner Stunt category.

Individual awards included: Nate Wilson, 2nd place, Toe Touches and 2nd place in Tumbling; Emma Landvatter, 3rd place, Toe Touches and 3rd place in Tumbling; and Alena Lunda, Brad Soneson and Dylan Skrzynski, Kevin Dyer and Lucas Weber won 1st Place in the Sr. Stunt Group.

In the team event, Alaska Elite achieved the highest overall score of all teams with a 90.75. It was the team's first competition and was coached by Carlene Nore and Aszli Skrzynski, with choreography by Amanda Dougherty and Brian Babcock. The team sent a special thanks to the Juneau Cheer Club administrative staff, parents, guest coaches and the community of Juneau for their support.
