Bruce Alan Bulkley
Lifelong Alaskan and former Juneau resident Bruce Alan Bulkley died July 2, 2000, in Anchorage.
He was born July 23, 1972, in Ekwok, Bristol Bay and adopted in Juneau.
He attended Juneau public schools and lived in the capital city until 1991, when he moved to Anchorage. He worked for Airborne Express for several years.
He enjoyed basketball, baseball, skiing, in-line skating and running. He was active in Boy Scouts, accompanied Floyd Dryden Middle School's choir and was his church's priesthood meeting pianist. He was a hard worker and enjoyed physical work.
At the age of 10, Bulkley saved his 2-year-old nephew from drowning in a swift river's undertow, his family said.
He is survived by his parents Jess and Shirleen Bulkley of Redmond, Ore.; sisters Lori Tupou and Tawna Doake of Juneau, Marci Wallace of Victoria, Texas; brother Dallin Bulkley and grandmother Vione Stolar of Redmond, Ore.; wife Sonya Lucas Bulkley of Anchorage and numerous nephews and nieces.
A funeral service was held today at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Juneau.
