Brian Clayton of Alaska Stone and Concrete works on a new retaining wall Tuesday in front of Juneau-Douglas High School. The work is part of a $1.5 million contract awarded to Miller Construction to create more parking spaces and a new synthetic-turf playing field for the high school. The project will add 24 parking spaces, nine of which will be for Augustus Brown Swimming Pool users. Most of the work is due to be completed in August before school starts. Preparation for the field will take until October and the turf probably will be installed next spring with better weather.
