Brinson lifts Phillies past the Astros

Liborio's two hits lead Giants past Twins in a shootout

Aquino Brinson drove in the game-tying run and later scored the game-winning run to lift the Phillies past the Astros 4-3 in Gastineau Channel Little League Minor Baseball action last week.

Brinson knotted the game at three with an RBI single, scoring Austin Thomas. Brinson later scored to win the game.

Marc Heifetz was the winning pitcher.

Kyle Gould led the Astros with a double and two RBIs.


Phillies 4, Mariners 1

Lance Ibesate fired a two-hitter as the Phillies downed the Mariners.

Mariners 3, Reds 1

Brady Groghan pitched a scoreless seventh-inning to earn the save in the Mariners' win over the Reds.

Peter Jorgenson pitched six innings to earn the win.

Ryan Baldwin threw well in defeat for the Reds.

The Mariners scored twice in the seventh to win the game.

Mariners 4, Cardinals 1

Peter Jorgenson helped lift the Mariners to a win over the Cardinals.

Jorgenson struck out 15 batters while giving up just three walks and two hits. He also fanned the final five batters of the game to preserve victory for the Mariners.

Jorgenson not only helped his side with his arm, but also with his bat. The pitcher blasted a two-run single, scoring Tyler Moss and Josh Magnuson, in the sixth to put the Cardinals away.

Paul Wisner had two hits for the Mariners and put his side on the board first with an RBI double in the fourth inning.

For the Cardinals, McLean Cannon started and pitched three shutout innings.

Brendan Daugherty and Cort Sauviers recorded the Cards' hits in the defeat.

A's 3, Mariners 1

The A's limited the Mariners to just one hit during tournament play last week.

Brady Groghan fired a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the loss for the Mariners and Paul Wisner earned the M's lone hit.

Garrett Cheeseman doubled and singled for the A's while Sage Thibodeau singled and scored twice.

Braves 3, Mariners 2

Chris Luck fired a complete-game to lead the Braves past the Mariners.

Brady Groghan pitched a no-hitter in the loss, striking out 10 batters.

Paul Wisner led the M's with two hits.


Giants 14, Twins 12

Nelson Liborio had to base hits as the Giants edged the Twins in a high-scoring affair.

Tony Tompkins earned the win for the Giants.

For the Twins, Keith Flint had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Julian Love and Slader Marshall added two hits each.

Diamondbacks 16, Twins 10

Hunter Madding and Taylor White had two hits each as the D-Backs slayed the Twins.

White also had four runs scored in the win.

Phillip Murray led the Twins with two hits and four RBIs while Keith Flint singled and scored three times and Richard Bouschor singled, walked and had two runs scored.

Giants 9, Twins 4

Tony Tompkins scattered three hits and fanned nine batters in five innings to push the Giants past the Twins in the tournament semifinals.

Nolan Ainsworth had three hits and three runs scored to pace the Giants. Also in the win, Marcus Sis had two hits and two runs scored.

For the Twins, Julian Love and Eric Verrelli posted two hits each.

Love fired a complete game for the Twins, yielding seven hits in seven innings.
