During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
He is the son of Paula Phillips of Huna Court, of Hoonah, and a 2007 graduate of Hoonah High School.
Weather L. Potdevin, of Juneau, was one of 467 seniors to graduate from Colby College on May 27 in Waterville, Maine. She graduated with honors, making the dean's list for the spring semester and a distinction in major, magna cum laude. She received a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in anthropology. She is the daughter of James and Tamira Potdevin, of Juneau.
