Hill to sell Juanita's Coffee after 4 years
Sound off on the important issues at
JUNEAU - Jane Hill, owner of Juanita's Coffee for the past four years, is leaving Juneau and selling her business, which sells organic, free-trade coffee.
"We have been up here for 43 years, and we decided that it was time to do something different. The rain, and this last winter helped make the decision," Hill said.
"(We) will be looking for four seasons, good weather, affordable housing, open roads ... probably a small town in the Pacific Northwest."
Serious inquiries about purchasing the coffee business can be sent to Hill at email@example.com.
Pet store closes, moves online
JUNEAU -Juneau Pets and Supplies in the Mendenhall Mall is closing shop July 31 and going online, owner Steve Robertson said. He and his wife, Dayna, have owned the business for just more than two years, but said they are struggling to compete with the big-box retail stores.
"A lot of our loyal customers have begged us not to close our doors, so we will remain in business, but online only," he said. "Basically, the days of the independent retailer in Juneau are soon to be over."
The store will be moving online to a site at www.juneaupets.com.
Dayna Robertson also will groom animals full-time and began booking appointments Monday.
