Tanner Petrie pitched five strong innings to lead Juneau East's All-Stars to a 9-2 win over Prince of Wales in the Alaska Little League 9-10 Year Old District 2 Baseball tournament Thursday in Petersburg.

Petrie fanned nine batters in five innings as Marc Heifetz and Kyle Gould pitched well in relief in the win.

Tod Baseden delivered the key hit for East. Baseden led off the second inning with an inside-the-park home run.

Gould had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored to base East's offense. Kohl Jaeger added two RBIs and two runs scored, Heifetz scored two runs while Shamil Blaisdel and Aquino Brinson each scored a run in the win.

"(Prince of Wales) fields a really good team considering how small their league is," East manager Jon Heifetz said. "I was pretty impressed by the baseball overall from that team considering how small their community is."

East (2-0) faces Ketchikan today.

Juneau West fell to 0-2 in pool play after falling 7-4 to Stika.
