Occupation: Cook, longshoreman.

Favorite outdoor sport: Fishing.

Favorite outdoor memory: My favorite outdoor memory is going camping with my mom, up past 24-mile. It's an old family campground. We camped there for a number of years. We always camped out there.

Close call: On family trips, hiking trails, we'd come across bears. You came face-to-face with them. In Wrangell, we hiked trails and came close to black bears back in 1979. Most recently, I saw some in downtown Juneau up on Sixth Street. I came across a baby cub and her mom. The mom actually rejected her baby ...Some guys wanted to put a rope around the cub. You can't tame a wild bear. They didn't know what they were getting into.
