JUNEAU - The trial of a Juneau man accused of running a drug ring is scheduled to start next week.
Jury selection for Aaron Washington, who faces multiple charges of drug trafficking, is set to begin at 9 a.m. July 14.
Since he was charged and arrested earlier this year, requests for Washington to visit his dying mother and speak with a woman who identifies herself as his fiancée have been denied in court.
Police say Washington and his partner, Vonnie Williams, ran a years-long smuggling operation that used women to smuggle pounds of cocaine into Juneau from Oregon, Washington and New York.
Juneau District Attorney Doug Gardner indicated at a pre-trial hearing Monday that he thought the trial would take three days.
