Juneau boy arrested for car rifling

JUNEAU - A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Tuesday for car rifling in North Douglas.

At about 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, a police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked near a 1999 Dodge truck while patrolling near Mile 9 on Douglas Highway. The officer spotted someone run from the truck to the suspicious vehicle and flee the scene.

Occupants - police were not specific on how many - ditched the vehicle and fled on foot. Responding officers located a 17-year-old boy along with a 16-year-old girl during a search of the area.

The boy was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespassing and theft and cited for underage drinking. He was released to a parent.

The investigation continues.
