Juneau Explorers offered at the City Museum Aug. 9-13

Kids ages 8-11 are invited to join the City Museum and the Canvas Art Studio August 9-13 for the Juneau Explorer's program, a week of exploring Juneau's history, art, environment and culture. Participants may select individual days or the entire week.

Monday: Medicinal Nature Hike. Learn about the medicinal properties of plants, then make beads out of devil's club at the Canvas. $30.

Tuesday: Treadwell Through a Child's Eyes. Hear stories about growing up in the company town of Treadwell, then head to Sandy Beach for art projects with Barbara Lydon from the Canvas. $32

Wednesday: All Aboard. Tour the USCG patrol boat Liberty, then make navigational flags at the Canvas. $35.25

Thursday: Feathered Friends. Explore the City Museum's exhibit All Things Eagle and Raven then take the Mount Roberts Tramway to visit the Juneau Raptor Center, then create your own eagle or raven sculpture at the Canvas. $35.25

Friday: Gold Rush. Hike to the Perseverance trailhead, pan for gold and out the Last Chance Mining Museum. $30.
