Habeger wins state appointment

JUNEAU - Don Habeger of Juneau has been appointed director of the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing, part of the state's Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development.

Habeger had most recently served as a legislative aide to Rep. Jay Ramras, R-Fairbanks, and was previously a regional vice-president with Royal Caribbean Cruises, following work as port manager in Juneau servicing the maritime industry.

Curtis Thayer, the department's deputy commissioner, said the department was thrilled to hire someone with Habeger's expertise and background.

"We especially value his broad private-sector expertise and impressive array of organizational and operational skills," Thayer said.

The Juneau-based position handles corporation and business registration and licensing, and Habeger said he was looking forward to a

Habeger holds a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from North Central University in Minnesota and has completed master's level studies in the University of Alaska Southeast's public administration program," the department said.
