ANCHORAGE - The commercial fishing season for Bristol Bay sockeye historically peaks on the Fourth of July, but not this year.
KTUU reports fishermen are still waiting for the peak, which the Alaska Department of Fish and Game says should be any day now. The delay may have been caused by cool weather.
At Leader Creek Fisheries in Naknek, operations manager Norman Van Vactor says he expects the salmon run will be smaller than forecast.
