Express route needs hospital stop

Posted: Wednesday, July 09, 2003

I am a big fan of Capital Transit, but I would like to know why there is only local bus service to the hospital area. When you consider the number of people who work at the hospital, SEARHC and the other medical clinics, Wildflower Court, the DIPAC hatchery, the Department of Transportation, and the Juneau Empire, it would seem reasonable to add a stop on the express route to and from the Valley.

Then, if you add the potential ridership of the hundreds of patients (many accompanied by family members) that use the clinics and the hospital every day, it seems even more justified. The 6-minute express trip from the Valley to downtown is really sweet. The 25-minute trip from the Valley to the Salmon Creek/Hospital area is a real drag!
