City should curtail WiFi for public health

Posted: Wednesday, July 09, 2008

The visual effects of WiFi towers (Empire, July 7) are the least of the problems they create. The electro-magnetic fields of these towers - along with cell phone towers and even Wi-Fi base stations - have been linked to childhood leukemia, breast cancer, Alzheimer's, inflammatory reactions, impaired immune function, sleep disruptions, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, headache, skin disorders and cardiac problems.

No one wants to hear this, of course, but those who are interested in the science should read the Bioinitiative Report from the State University of New York at Albany at As a matter of public health, the city should prohibit WiFi in schools (as the city of Frankfurt, Germany, has done) and other public places (e.g. libraries) and deny any permit for WiFi or cell phone towers.
